WELCOME TO THE 2024 DERWENT ART PRIZE

Created in 2012 by Derwent, the Derwent Art Prize rewards excellence by showcasing the very best artworks made in pencil by artists from around the world. We’re delighted to welcome you to the 2024 Prize and exhibition!

The 2024 prize received over 6,000 entries by 2,324 artists in 77 countries. The selectors - Sergio Gomez, Curtis Holder, Valérie Sonnier and Helen Waters - shortlisted 68 artworks for the exhibition which can still be viewed online and was exhibited at gallery@oxo, London, from 4th April to 14th April 2024.

Visitors can expect to see a rich display of art in pencil, ranging from abstraction and experimentation to the hyper-realistic and expressive.

The Derwent Art Prize will award prizes totalling over £13,000, including a First Prize of £4,000 plus a year's supply of Derwent products, to outstanding artists from the shortlist. 

Winners have now been announced: 

  • First Prize: £4,000 plus a year’s supply of Derwent products. - June Collier

  • Second Prize: £2,000 and a box of Derwent Lightfast Pencils. - Polly Townsend

  • Young Artist First Prize: £4,000. - George Metu-Onyeka

  • Young Artist Second Prize: £2,000. - Bethan Harris

  • New Artist Prize: £500 to an artist who has never entered the Derwent Art Prize before. - Melissa Ling

  • The People’s Choice Award, worth £500, will be announced at the end of the exhibition. Voting is now closed.

The 2024 exhibition is now closed and only available online.
