Angélique Nagovskaya - Conspiracy of Forms

"I began this piece as a negotiation with shadows.

Here, they refuse to behave. They detach from their bodies, borrow gestures, and slip into one another like quiet conspirators. A hand becomes a stem, a glass becomes a limb, touch dissolves into vapor. The forms seem to toast, lean, and whisper—playful, but not entirely innocent.

In grayscale, without color to anchor you, perception starts to wobble. The eye tries to stabilize the image and can’t. Meaning flickers in and out. The shadows guide you toward recognition, then gently pull it away.

I’m interested in that instability—how memory and identity behave the same way. Shadows record presence without holding onto it. They prove something was there, but never exactly what.

These shadows aren’t absence. They’re mischievous collaborators, bending gravity and form, asking how fixed anything truly is."
