The "Shopping" series of drawings are focused on my interest in the banalities of everyday life. They are developed from quick sketches of people in and around shopping centres. The studies are minimal and tend to be no more than silhouettes. The complexity of the drawings evolves from the overlay of images. I do this to reference the ambiguities inherent in everyday life: a form begins to emerge in its entirity only to transfom into an aspect of something else. The multiplicity of figures may be interpreted as togetherness but I see the crowd as an opportunity to express the isolation of the individual.
