Based in North London, Loader’s artistic practice ranges from site-specific installations to works on paper and painting that refer to man-made and natural phenomena to construct a rhythmic interpretation of place that is both physical and psychological. She believes that our environment has a significant impact on our subconscious, contributing to our emotions and perceptions by the way in which we interact with the spatial geometries around us. This includes how our bodies perceive space in a sensory way through rhythm and movement, noticing phenomena such as light and temperature and sensing the proximity or distance of things. Her drawings and paintings incorporate geometric patterns and motifs using systems of slippage, rotation, reversal and repetition. Combined with a subjective use of colour that reflects seasonal and diurnal changes, she aims to present a sensation or atmosphere of place rather than a representation of it.
