Graphite, Charcoal, Black Tea and Conte on Hand Made Paper
67 × 53 cm

My practice centres on drawing as a space of quiet presence. Working primarily with black tea and mixed media, I use staining, absorption, line, and negative space to construct figures who exist in silence, reflection, and subtle movement. Even within my painted works, drawing remains the foundation, the structural language through which emotion is carried.
The women in my work occupy spaces they have shaped for themselves: spaces of rest, rumination, and becoming, where stillness is active rather than passive. Figures are often suspended within expanses of negative space, emphasising a self-contained presence.
Through restrained line and careful mark-making, I explore simplicity as depth. For me, drawing is not preliminary, it is the architecture of feeling the quiet framework through which intimacy, strength, and interiority are revealed.
