£800.00

Charcoal pencil on paper
45 x 62 cm
2025

Lois is an Aberdeenshire based artist and Teacher, whose practice moves between textiles and drawing. She studied at the Glasgow School of Art, where she completed her BA (Hons), and later earned an MA from the Royal College of Art, graduating in 2020. In 2015, a piece from her degree show was awarded the Student Jerwood Drawing Prize. Her practice has since been exhibited widely across the UK. Lois’s work engages with and reinterprets women’s historical narratives, exploring constructions of identity and the body. Textiles and drawing continually inform one another within her practice, creating a dialogue between material and mark making. She is particularly interested in how traditionally 'feminine' materials can be rendered awkward, weighty and subversive. Drawing on a wide range of historical art and literary sources, Lois interrogates gender roles and the social and political inequalities that shape women’s lived experiences.
