Lucy Hall is an artist and educator, working mainly in pencil, print and stitch. Through her work she expresses her love of the countryside and a desire to live more freely and closely to nature. This piece was inspired by a quote from 'Coming up for Air' by George Orwell; ‘After I was sixteen I didn’t go fishing again. There never seemed to be time. I was at work, I was chasing girls…I was doing correspondence courses in salesmanship and accountancy and ‘improving my mind’.
