My practice centres on painting and drawing as a way of entering wild, hidden, and often overlooked territories. Through organic forms, folklore, and myth, I explore what is misunderstood, repressed, or displaced, and how these states shape personal and collective relationships to landscape. Having emigrated from Poland nearly twenty years ago, I am increasingly aware of how dislocation has altered my perception of place, and I am drawn to seeking points of connection between Polish and British folklore, particularly where nature becomes a shared site of belief, fear, and transformation. I work with a deliberately restricted colour palette drawn from make-up—blush, lipstick, and flesh tones which acts as both a material and conceptual constraint. These colours reference expectations placed on women artists while carrying emotional and symbolic weight. Red recurs in my work as a signal of emergency or warning, reflecting a constant state of alertness and vulnerability. My drawing is titled after David Garnett’s "Lady into Fox" book, exploring the relationship between the wild and the domesticated, alongside evolving ideas of femininity.
