Working to emphasise the ephemeral nature of artefacts, I aim to reflect the fragmented and weathered surface material by using graphite to create interweaving marks. With the medium of graphite, I am intrigued at how the process of drawing can actually work paradoxically with my theme of ephemerality. Drawing extends an objects memory and permanence. Whether that permanence is of the decay over time from external factors or whether that permanence captures the artefact in a moment of time, preserving it a little longer.
